The workshop conducted in February 2021 at Chennai, India by the Rajan Eye Care Centre, Chennai aimed at Video Assisted Skill Transfer. A distinguished group of surgeons showcased their skills and shared their secrets of performing different ophthalmic surgeries starting from ptosis surgery, going on to strabismus, Descemet’s stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty, Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty, Glued intra-ocular lens, Single pass four throw pupilloplasty, femtosecond laser assisted LASIK, intra-corneal ring segments (INTACS), macular Hole surgery and intra-vitreal injections. The entire surgical programme was streamed live using high- definition video transmission.
Specialised surgeries were shown interspersed with both routine as well as various complicated and complex cataract scenarios such as small pupil, hard cataracts, posterior polar cataract, the use of Malyugin ring, Miloop for hard cataracts, FLACS (Femtosecond Laser assisted cataract surgery and glued IOL. Different intra-ocular lenses were also showcased such as Toric IOL, Multifocal IOL etc.
Expert surgeons from all over India participated and demonstrated their unique techniques to over 300 delegates and a panel of expert surgeons who discussed individual cases, surgical details as well as tips to make surgery easier and safer. Registration was complementary for all delegates. This was the latest instalment of the annual event conducted on the first or second Sunday of February by Rajan Eye Care Hospital, Chennai, India.
